It totally rips. I can't believe how much a handplane can make bodysurfing totally functional. I ride everything from a longboard, a fish and a bodyboard but from my few sessions so far bodysurfing with a hand plane, I've found it can make almost every type of wave enjoyable. This morning I took out a new one that I shaped, based a little closer to the style you do. I joined two pieces of teak and put a ply stringer in there. Curved swallow tail and I used an angle grinder to carve in a channel through the underside. Though I went a little wild and had to use some bondo in one section. I almost carved right through to the deck haha. It's all a learning curve. I'll forward you through a couple of pictures of the new one. Feel free to critique me. I did notice when surfing with it this morning it felt a little soft in the tail (if that makes sense) do you think I may have carved the channel too deep?
